Poor in spirit.
Matthew 5:3 ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’
The poor in spirit are all who realizing
they have no resources of their own to depend upon
put all their faith and trust in Christ alone for salvation.
The kingdom of heaven is the inheritance of all who love and obey His word.
We are blessed because out of our poverty
we have access to the vast ocean of the unsearchable riches of Christ.
Humility does not bathe in the glory of a self denying life;
humility looks to Christ and boasts in His glory.
Our weakness is overcome by His strength;
our poverty is removed by the riches of His grace;
and our inability is made irrelevant by His power that works in us.
