The religious leaders envied Jesus.
Mark 15:10 ‘For he knew that the chief priests had delivered Him for envy.’
The religious leaders envied Jesus because
He had wisdom they could not answer;
authority they could not control;
power they could not deny;
boldness they could not overcome;
and truth they could not silence.
He could draw the crowds with His teaching;
and was the defender of those who the religious leaders
regarded as unworthy of the grace of God.
He made disciples out of unlearned and ignorant men;
brought joy and gladness to those considered as outcasts of society;
and was not afraid to expose the hypocrisy
of those who used religion to promote themselves.
